Saturday MTB Rides

Postby Nicks_77 » Tue Nov 03, 2015 12:49 pm

Apologies in advance if this is the wrong place to ask, but I've recently gotten back into MTB and would like to join you on one of your Saturday off road rides.

Is there going to be a ride this coming Saturday 7th November? If so is it the usual meeting place in Stourbridge?

Many Thanks

Nick

Hi Nick

There will be rides this Saturday. I believe the 9:00 (Advanced), 9:15 (Intermediates) and 9:30 (Social/Beginners) all plan to leave from the Bonded Warehouse.

Which ride were you aiming for and i'll confirm.

Cheers

Mac

Thanks for your reply Mac,

I'm a competent road cyclist but it's been quite a while since I've ridden MTB which has been proven by a recent visit to Cannock Chase.

I'm therefore airing towards the social/beginners ride unless you think this may be too sedate?

I don't like to be presumptuous about people's abilities. The 930 is a good place to start. They're a decent bunch but if you do find it too sedate you can move up to the 915 next week

I was thinking the same as it's a totally different discipline.

Looking forward to meeting some of you on Saturday morning.

Hello - I hope you don't mind me tagging on to this thread as I've got a couple of first-timer questions too:

What is the parking like at the Bonded Warehouse for Saturday riders? - I've had a quick look on google street view, bout couldn't tell if it was private allocated spaces or not. (I don't know the area at all) Is that where you all park if arriving with vehicles?

Also - having read the membership rules, all sounds fine - but are mudguards mandatory? (only reason I ask is because I'm fine on the front, but have yet to find a rear MTB guard that does the job!) I might struggle to find one for this coming weekend and didnt want to upset anyone if I didnt have one fitted.

As per the advice given above - even though I've got a few years under my belt - I'll give the 9.30 group a try first.

Thanks.

HI

Plenty of parking at the Bonded. No worries on that account.

You're okay without a mudguard. Just be aware of the fact.

Hi Macca

Thanks for the reply.

I've since picked up a front & rear guard.

Hopefully see you next week all being well.
